BLOODBATH – The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn

Bloodbath has been a highly acclaimed and ambitious death metal band who’s discography has been structural and configurable with albums including Nightmares Made Flesh and The Fathomless Mastery all considered important material to Bloodbath’s career. Four years later, we have the latest chapter from Swedish death metal masters Bloodbath. The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn is the following successor to 2014’s Grand Morbid Funeral which in my humblest opinion the band’s angriest, sophisticated and formulating albums since Resurrection Through Carnage.

This time around, The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn took their old school death metal formulated instrumentation and sheer heaviness of sophisticated chemistry this marked a new evolution which welcomes Paradise Lost frontman Nick Holmes which my opinion his vocal performances brings new stylistic and destructive patterns making the songs original and not overly repetitive within the album’s atmosphere and presentation. One of the biggest highlights upon hearing this album is the doomy section instrumentals, death metal refineries and the overall amounts of beautiful, disheartening and melancholic tracks such as Chainsaw Lullaby, Morbid Antichrist, Fleischmann and Only the Dead Survive provided the most consistent, thick and strongest material they’ve released since Nightmares Made Flesh while the materialistic structures are balanced properly Bloodbath took many key elements of old school death metal with hints of doom sequenced production and intelligent songwriters to whole new level.

The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn is a historical landmark for any fan of Bloodbath and considered Sweden is home to many iconic artists from Dismember, Amon Amarth, Entombed, At The Gates and Dark Tranquillity to name a few but The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn is a album everyone has to discover on their own if they’re fans of Swedish death metal.

Overall Score: 9.5/10
