ASTAROTH INCARNATE – Omnipotence – The Infinite Darkness

Canada is known for all sorts of things from technical death metal to black metal and this time around Astaroth Incarnate plays a unique hybrid of ritualistic, occult and misanthropic style of both melodic black and death metal. This 32 minute EP demonstrates a new boundary from these musicians as the music is not only incredibly sinister and dark but borrows vibes of old school atmospheric passages preferably Dissection and Sacramentum. Everything from the audible instrumentals, production and songwriting is simply top notch.

Songs such as Curse Of The Black Plague and Obscurity for instance have insane guitar melodies, melodic death metal inspired drumming, visceral vocals and disgustingly crafted bass signatures is worth the chaotic change as the album penetrates the listener into a carnage of hell and gut-retching choruses is just bloody perfect. I even noticed there’s a lot of 90’s black/death metal influences on this EP from the frosty cold landscapes of Dark Funeral, Immortal and Darkthrone to the more intelligent and thought-provoking bands including Gojira, At The Gates, SepticFlesh and Behemoth are the band’s biggest influences to inspire and motivated themselves creating a dark picture to incorporate various pieces of music that’s well detailed and crafted to best of their own ability. Omnipotence – The Infinite Darkness is a perfect example of melodic black and death metal to create a foundation so memorable that this will satisfy any fans of extreme music.

Overall Score: 8.5/10
